The Valencia Open 500 is a great opportunity to see some of the best
tennis players in the world play close up, although the first edition
of the Valencia Open 500 is much more than that; it is a tournament
that is open to all Valencians and tennis fans. From 31st October to 8th
November, the world's top-ranked players such as Andy Murray, Andy
Roddick, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Juan
Carlos Ferrero will be putting on an extraordinary show at the Ágora in
the City of Arts and Sciences.
The recently inaugurated building is a metal structure similar in shape
to a pointed ellipse, around 88 metres long by 66 metres wide, creating
a large spacious area approximately 5,000 square metres, which can seat
up to 5,500 spectators. At the Valencia Open, the last ATP World Tour
500 tournament of the year, not only will we be seeing some of the best
players on the circuit in action, but also this event is crucial to the
aspirations of players hoping to take part in the Masters Cup, which
will be taking place in London this year at the end of November.
One of the main features that set the Valencia Open 500 apart from
other tournaments on the circuit is the possibility of accessing the Funpark
free of charge. This shopping, leisure and food area is free to all
visitors, who can enjoy all kinds of activities running parallel to the
tournament, only needing their ticket to enter the courts themselves.
The tournament will also have a giant screen set up in the Funpark,
two evening sessions and two deluxe settings: l'Umbracle and Mya; two
venues where you can spend the evening after an intense day of tennis.
The City of Arts and Sciences will also be home to various
tennis-related acts during the competition week. Ultimately, this is a
tournament created by the people and for the people, so they can enjoy
the best tennis and an incomparable venue, not only on the courts but
also off them as well
