A new edition of Spanish cinema awards is celebrated:
The Goya Awards. In this 26th edition, the most award winning film
has been No Habrá Paz Para los
Malvados (No Peace for the Wicked), by Enrique Urbizu.
This film, starring José Coronado, who plays an
evil, corrupt, and violent cop (a little like El Sargento Corrupto played by
Harvey Keitel), won 6 statuettes:
Best Actor, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Sound, and Best Original
Screenplay.
Other major award winning films include Blackthorn, Sin Destino, by
Mateo Gil; La Piel Que Habito, by Pedro Almodóvar; and La Voz
Dormida, Benito Zambrano. Although Almodovar’s film was one of the favorites, it ended up only
winning awards for Best Actress, Elena Anaya; Best Actor, Jan Cornet; Best
Makeup, and Best Original Score.
We leave you with a scene from Blackthorn, Sin destino, which is an
interesting sequel to Dos Hombre y Un Destino (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
the legendary film
starring two greats: Paul Newman and Robert Reford). This sequel Mateo Gil,
shows the continuation of the characters’ adventures in the Bolivian high
plains. This movie has a beautiful picture and is a very interesting work.
